History

The American Cocker Spaniel, descendant of the English version used for hunting quail and small birds in the 19th century, was purposely bred to be slightly smaller than its ancestral breed. Eventually recognized as distinct by the AKC in 1935, these sociable dogs have been a beloved member of many households ever since!
