About Bernedoodles

Bernedoodles are a hybrid between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Poodle. They first appeared in the early 2000s and have been growing in popularity ever since. Bernedoodles are known for being exceptionally loyal and loving, making them ideal family pets. They are also relatively low-shedding, which is good news for anyone with allergies. Bernedoodle puppies are especially adorable, and they typically inherit the best traits of both parents including long life span and health. If you're looking for a happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and all-around lovable dog, the Bernedoodle is an excellent choice.

History

The first Bernedoodles were bred in the early 2000s, and the breed has since become quite popular. One breeder in Ontario, Canada, claims to be the first to intentionally breed Bernedoodles, but it is possible the breed existed before then. The Bernedoodle is a designer breed that is recognized by the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC), the Designer Canine Registry (DCR), and several other internationally known breed clubs.

Temperament

These dogs are typically bouncy, friendly, and loving, making them great companion dogs for families with children. While Bernedoodles can inherit some of the Bernese Mountain Dog's stubbornness, they are generally intelligent and easy to train. One important thing to note about Bernedoodles is that they do not like being left alone for extended periods of time and may experience separation anxiety if left by themselves for too long. They love spending time with their humans, whether that’s relaxing on the couch or going on a new outdoor adventure.
