History

An intrepid breeder combined the herding talents of an Australian Shepherd with the loyalty and intelligence of a Golden Retriever to produce four puppies in late 2007. This first litter kick-started what would become known as the beloved "Australian Retriever", truly embodying both breeds' celebrated traits: hardworking skills from its Aussie mom, blended with sturdy friendliness from its English dad.

Temperament

Loyal, loving and intelligent – Australian Retrievers make great family companions. They may be possessive of their belongings but are known to get along with other animals as well as children. Though they don't bark much, thanks to their herding ancestry these breeds double up quite nicely as watchdogs too - just start training them early on for the best results!
